G1 Exit Road Test Package #1

To get a ‘G2’ license

Price: $199.12 Plus Tax ($225 total)

An “in-car” program is only available to students who have successfully completed the beginner course with National. It consists of:
  • 1-hour warm-up lesson on the day of your road test
  • 30-minute early arrival to register and go over any last-minute preparation
  • Use of the instructor vehicle* for the test and a drive back to your home, school, or work.

Approx. time involved is 2 ½ to 4+ hours (depending on test center efficiency).

*Use of instructor’s vehicle remains at the sole discretion of the instructor.
3 additional training hours may be substituted in lieu of the test package if the instructor does not feel that the student is ready to drive without instructional assistance.

Is National Defensive Driver Training an MTO-approved driving school in Guelph?
Yes. National Defensive Driver Training is a Ministry of Transportation (MTO)-licensed driving school based in Guelph, Ontario, offering the approved Beginner Driver Education (BDE) course plus private lessons and road test packages. We've been voted Guelph's #1 driving school in the Guelph Mercury-Tribune Readers' Choice Awards every year from 2016-17 through 2024-25.
How much does it cost to learn to drive with National Defensive Driver Training?
Costs vary by program: the MTO-Approved BDE course starts at $800 (online) or $850 (in-class) plus tax, single 60-minute lessons are $75 tax included, and 5- or 10-lesson packages run $325 to $598. Road test preparation lessons start at $75. Full pricing is on our Lessons & Packages page.
Does completing the BDE course reduce my road test wait or save on insurance?
Yes. Graduating from our MTO-Approved BDE program can reduce your road test wait time by up to four months and may qualify you for up to the maximum insurance discount your provider offers for an approved driver training course.
Where is National Defensive Driver Training located?
Our office is at 25A Wyndham St. North, 2nd floor, Guelph, ON N1H 4E4 (above Wimpy's Diner). We provide in-car lessons throughout the Guelph, Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge area.
What ages and skill levels do you teach?
We train new teen drivers working toward their G1, G2, and G licenses, adult beginners, nervous or returning drivers, and seniors preparing for a license renewal road test. We also offer winter driving and advanced defensive driving lessons for experienced drivers.
